    Why did the people watching around in the last example did not grab the kite. This could have avoided the kite to go further. Instead, they just waited and look . 😢

    Other tips I found helpful. In lighter winds: 1. Bear downwind, 2. Keep the board flat during take off, 3. Continue small Pumps of the Wing until the Foil finds its planning speed at lift off.

    Thanks, good video, but I couldn’t find any videos about wingfoil pump technique in choppy or wavy conditions. I feel like my pumping technique is slowly starting to work in flat water. However, in conditions with waves, it’s much harder. Either the wave comes from the side and disrupts my balance, or it goes under the board and destroys my won height, or it passes me from behind and kills my speed. Are there any techniques for these conditions?

I have a few years of windsurfing experience but I've never owned a wing and never gone wing foiling. I just bought a wing and am going to get started on land with a mountain board but maybe this summer I'll spoil myself with a wing foil board!

    What's the deal with attaching the leash to the handle?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege 17 дней назад

      Hi Alan. I prefer it for a few a reasons. I use a fairly short wing leash, and the attachment on the handle allows a little movement. Also, if I drop the wing while foiling (perhaps foiling a wave and passing the wing behind my back) then pulling in the leash leads to the handle (without even looking). Also, I've heard you can rip off the little loops made for the wing leash.

    • @AlanAllegret
      @AlanAllegret 16 дней назад

      @@kitesurfcollege those are pretty good points (maybe not the last one, given the loops are designed for that purpose, while the handles aren't). And to add one more, I imagine it's also easier/faster to attach the leash there than the tiny loop. Interesting. Thanks!

    Is there any way to change the trim to make sure the kite will frontstall less often? E.g. change attachment points further back/further in front? How does changing that change the frontstall behaviour?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege 22 дня назад

      I think it's mainly the kite's aspect ratio and weight/weight distribution that have a big effect on how well a kite handles front stalls. Altering the bridle attachment point can make a small difference but I'd say you're generally best of with the default set up.

    • @simpleman5494
      @simpleman5494 21 день назад

      @@kitesurfcollege Thanks. That's one of the issues that we have with inland waters like lakes etc.. Especially if it blows offshore... then gusts are often so unpredictable, that even if there is more than enough wind for kitesurfing, the conditions might be "unkiteable". I had this problem a week ago in my lake area, that the wind was blowing strong but a little gusty and offshore. The result was that my kite got Wind from below, flew over me, and shortly after it got "downdraft" and the next gust blew from the top onto the canopy... In some other Video I heard that I could have tried to power it aggressively and therefore force it to backstall... But that would have meant that I was about to get pulled hard very soon... Maybe an aluula dyneema fronttube kite might help a little to solve the issue.. but that of course will hurt my wallet a lot...

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege 21 день назад

      Hi, it's quite rare for lakes to be kiteable. You really want your wind to have reached you approaching over a huge region of flat surface (i.e. water). You probably know this already but this video looks at what makes kiteable wind:

      There are some lakes that work around the world, for example near here is Brandvlei where in a NW wind approaches the lake from very flat farmland. It's still fairly gusty, but with some experienced it's fine to ride on. Wind approaching from desert can also be okay. Wind approaching from bush, scrub, trees, buildings or hills is usually horrendous for kiting.
